Why tutors choose Pratice

Get paid properly

Rates and terms are agreed with you individually. Payouts are scheduled and tracked in your dashboard — no chasing students, no unpaid trials.

We bring the students

You don't have to market, bill, or handle support. We handle enrollment, payments, and the platform. You focus on teaching.

Flexible availability

Set your weekly slots in the tutor dashboard. Teach as much or as little as you want — evenings, weekends, or full-time.

Teach from anywhere

All lessons run online. All you need is a stable connection, a quiet space, and a webcam.

Real students, real goals

Our learners are working toward school, careers, immigration, and life in French — not idle curiosity. They show up and they pay.

No marketing, no admin

No self-promotion. No invoicing. No chasing payments or rescheduling. You open the dashboard, teach your lessons, and get paid.

Ongoing support

Questions about a student, lesson planning, or the platform? We're a message away. You're never teaching alone.

How it works

  1. Apply. Fill in the tutor signup form. Tell us about your languages, specialties, and how you like to teach.
  2. Read and sign the Tutor Agreement. You'll sign our No-Solicit Agreement when you apply — it's how we keep students and tutors safe on both sides.
  3. Get approved. We review every application. If it's a fit, you'll be approved within a few days and appear in our tutor pool. Pratice learners who reach a strong level are reviewed with priority.
  4. Agree your terms. We set your rate and payout schedule together, individually, before you take your first lesson.
  5. Set your availability. Open your dashboard and add your weekly slots.
  6. Teach. We match you with students. You teach online. We handle payments and scheduling.
  7. Get paid. On-time payouts in CAD, tracked in your dashboard.

What we look for

  • Native or near-native French (any regional accent welcome)
  • Conversational or better English
  • Comfortable teaching online via video
  • Reliable, punctual, and good with people
  • Experience teaching French, TEF/TCF, or languages is a plus
  • Formal teaching certification is a plus, but not required
  • Pratice learners who reach a strong level are welcome to apply — fluency, patience, and clear communication matter more than paper credentials

The No-Solicit principle

When a student is introduced to you through Pratice, that student remains a Pratice student. All lessons, payments, and communication stay on the platform.

Why? Because it keeps lessons safe for students, keeps you paid fairly and on time, and it keeps Pratice alive as a business so we can keep bringing you students.

You'll read and sign the full agreement during signup. Messages between you and students are stored and protected inside Pratice — contact details are automatically hidden to prevent anyone (on either side) from accidentally taking lessons off-platform.

Frequently asked

How much can I earn?

Your rate is agreed with you individually during onboarding, based on your experience, specialties, and availability. We don't publish a public rate card because we treat each tutor as an individual — talk to us about what works for you.

I'm a Pratice student — can I become a tutor?

Yes. Many of our best tutors started as Pratice learners. If you've built strong fluency with us (or you're already fluent and want to teach), you're welcome to apply. Pratice learners who reach a solid level get priority review when they submit their application.

How many hours will I get?

That depends on your availability, specialties, and how quickly you build rapport with students. New tutors usually start with a few lessons a week, then grow as we match more students to them.

Do I need a teaching certificate?

No. Formal certification is a plus, but we prioritize real teaching ability, patience, and clear communication. Many of our best tutors are experienced but uncertified.

Where do I teach from?

Anywhere with a quiet space and stable internet. Most of our tutors teach from home. Lessons are online, so you can be based in Canada, South Africa, or elsewhere.

How and when do I get paid?

Payouts are scheduled in advance and tracked in your tutor dashboard. You'll see every lesson and every payout. You're paid in CAD for lessons you've taught.

What is the No-Solicit Agreement?

It's a short, clear agreement: students introduced to you through Pratice stay on Pratice. All lessons, payments, and communication run through the platform. It protects you, students, and the business.

Can I teach other languages?

Right now Pratice focuses on French. If you also teach other languages, mention it in your application — we may expand.

Can my rate increase?

Yes. Rates are reviewed regularly, and tutors who teach consistently, specialize in high-demand areas (TEF/TCF prep, business French, exam coaching), or receive strong feedback are eligible for increases.

Ready to teach?
