About Pratice

French learning, made practical.

Pratice is a Canadian French-learning platform built around a simple idea: learners should be able to see how we teach before they pay anything. So we made the practice free, the trial free, and the tutoring real.

Why we exist

Most French platforms ask you to subscribe before you know whether you'll like the teaching. You commit to a month, sometimes more, and hope it clicks. By the time you find out it doesn't, you've already paid.

We built Pratice the other way around. Our free practice library lets you see exactly how we explain French — real corrections, real explanations, no paywall. Our free trial gives you a full 60-minute lesson with a real tutor. You only pay when you've decided we're worth it.

That's the whole business. Free practice. Free trial. Monthly plans after. No subscriptions to apps you'll abandon in three weeks.

What you get with Pratice

Free practice library

Small-group classes

Groups of up to six learners, arranged by level. Conversation-focused, structured, and more affordable than 1-on-1.

What we believe

  • Show the teaching before the payment. Free practice exists so you can judge us on our actual work, not our marketing copy.
  • Real tutors, not algorithms. Every lesson is live with a person. Our tutors are vetted, they sign a no-solicit agreement, and they're paid for the work they do.
  • Clear pricing, in CAD. No hidden fees, no currency guessing, no auto-renewing traps. Monthly plans, cancel anytime.
  • Built for Canadian goals. TEF, TCF, Express Entry, bilingual careers — our curriculum is designed around what Canadian learners actually need French for.
  • Keep it human. Learning French is not a puzzle to be gamed. It's a relationship between a learner and a teacher. We protect that.

Where Pratice is based

Pratice is a Canadian-facing French-learning platform. Our learners are across Canada — Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax — and our tutors teach from wherever they have a quiet room and a stable connection.

Our long-term home base is Ottawa, Ontario — Canada's bilingual capital. It's where the intersection of English, French, public service, and immigration makes the most sense for what we do.

Lessons are online, so we teach learners anywhere in Canada. If you're outside Canada and want to learn French for immigration or professional reasons, you're welcome too.

For tutors

If you teach French, Pratice handles the platform, the payments, the scheduling, and the learners — you teach. We agree your rate with you individually, and we don't publish a public rate card, because we treat every tutor as a person, not a line item.

Many of our best tutors started as Pratice learners. If you've built real fluency with us and want to teach the next wave of Canadian learners, you're welcome to apply.
